Exciting Horizons Ahead: Our Vision for the Future of home care!

As we continue our family journey, our commitment to communities remains strong. Together, we build meaningful relationships and make a difference. Therefore, join us in this mission—because here, everyone is family.
The Local Care Group was founded by Amy and Kate in 2011. Their vision was simple: to provide outstanding home care services to adults in the community. Initially, we started small by offering cleaning and home care services. However, as demand for compassionate care grew, we expanded significantly.

Our Inspiring Journey into Home care

Kate's journey began when her grandmother faced neglect in a care home. Consequently, this experience ignited her passion for assisting elderly individuals in her community to remain in their own homes. As a result of this for over 30 years, we have been proud to support families in Nottingham and Leicestershire. Below, you can follow our timeline to see how we've evolved into who we are today!
1980's
In the 1980s, inspired by her grandma's neglect in a care home, Kate launched Helping Hands Professional Care at Home. Consequently, she aimed to help seniors remain in their own homes. As a result, she built a trusted community care service, and now over 50 dedicated staff members work to support seniors where they belong.
In the early 2000s, Kate made a courageous decision to step back from her bustling career. Consequently, she devoted time to her rapidly growing family. After all, she had already poured her heart and soul into her business and the senior community.
In 2010, Kate returned to the public sector, hoping to make a positive impact. However, she soon faced negative attitudes and discrimination, which harmed her well-being.


After discussing this with her daughter, Amy, they realised that staying in a toxic environment wasn’t the solution. Instead, they understood that true success is about joy and purpose. Therefore, they planned for Kate to leave her role, allowing her to rebuild her care team and regain her confidence.
In 2014, inspired by Kate's work, Amy left her full-time job to fully support Kate's mission. She became the manager of Kate’s new company, which they rebranded as The Local Care Group Limited, reflecting their commitment to the community. Together, Kate and Amy demonstrate how passion and purpose can drive real change.
In 2018, we prioritised creating a strong team culture aligned with our company values and policies. As a result, The Local Care Group Limited achieved a 'Good' rating in all five key areas during a challenging CQC inspection.

Moreover, we were honoured to receive a Workforce Development Award from Nottinghamshire County Council, which highlights our care team's exceptional skills and our commitment to delivering great support in the community.
In 2019, the local care group won the Best Small Business title at the Nottingham Post Woman in Business Awards. This achievement highlights our dedication to excellence and our passion for making a positive impact in the community.
In 2020, our care group gained recognition for our efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. We were finalists in the Great British Care Awards, winning awards for Covid Hero and Workforce Development.


Additionally, our team member Amy received the Outstanding Woman in Care award at the Women in Business Awards. Her dedication led to an invitation for tea at the House of Lords, highlighting our community impact.


These accolades reflect our commitment to improving care standards and providing compassionate support to those we serve.
In 2022, our local care group is thriving, as we empower individuals to overcome obstacles and live their dream lives. With a strong management team and dedicated staff, we’re driving our mission forward.

Thanks to our COVID recovery plan, we continue to improve our services. Moreover, after the challenges of the pandemic, we now have new offices, modern meeting rooms, company cars for every staff member, tailored training programs, and cutting-edge care software. In short, we’re redefining community care.
